Our Techniques and Services

At Christensen Chiropractic, we offer a variety of services and chiropractic adjusting techniques to improve the alignment of the spine, reduce soft tissue inflammation, assist the body to recover from musculoskeletal injury, and improve overall health and wellness.

Diversified Technique - Diversified is the most commonly used adjustment technique used by chiropractors. It is characterized by a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust with the objective of restoring proper movement and alignment of the spine and body's joints.

Therapeutic Ultrasound - In ultrasound therapy, a transducer or applicator is placed in direct contact with the patient's skin to emit high frequency sound waves for the treatment of soft tissue injuries.  Conditions which may be treated with the use of ultrasound include ligament sprains, muscle strains, tendonitis, joint inflammation, plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, bursitis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and scar tissue adhesion.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) - Also known as neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), this therapy involves the elicitation of muscle contraction using electric impulses that are transmitted by electrodes placed directly on the skin over the targeted muscles.  The use of electrostimulation prior to a chiropractic adjustment can assist the muscles to relax that surround the area to be adjusted, resulting in an easier and more effective adjustment of the spine and joints.

Massage Therapy - With 14 years of experience as a massage therapist, Dr. Christensen understands the importance that healthy muscle tissue plays in assisting the spine and joints to stay in proper alignment, and we at Christensen Chiropractic believe in using massage therapy in conjunction with chiropractic care for optimal health and wellness.

Mechanical/Impulse Activator - this is an alternative to manual manipulation of the spine or extremity joints.  The device is a mechanical force manually assisted (MFMA) instrument which is generally used for patients who cannot tolerate manual manipulations very well.

Webster Technique - The Webster technique is a specific diversified adjustment used to restore proper alignment and function of the pelvis.  While used on patients of all ages, this technique is particularly helpful when used on pregnant mothers whose babies are presenting breech. This technique does not claim to flip the baby, but rather allow a more comfortable atmosphere for the infant to position itself properly head down.

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) -  This technique utilizes procedures including functional chiropractic neurology and biomechanics, nutrition, soft tissue techniques and the diagnosis and treatment of the craniosacral respiratory mechanism (CSRM). The techniques utilized in SOT® Methods promote optimal innate healing mechanics for the spine, pelvis, cranium, organs, extremities, nervous system, brain and muscles. These techniques promote balance, neurological integrity and integrated function of the organ structure and neurological mechanism.

Rapid Release Technique (RRT)/Scar Tissue Therapy - This technique involves using a mechanical device that delivers pressure and rapid back and forth vibration across scar tissue and inflamed soft tissues to loosen and break up adhesions.  This therapy is particularly effective in treating TMJ, carpal tunnel syndrome, and sprains and strains.

Active Release Technique (ART)/Passive Release Technique (PRT) - A very effective method used to release muscular adhesions by isolating specific muscles and contacting them with firm pressure while stretching them through various ranges of motion.

Applied Kinesiology (AK) - This method of alternative medicine utilizes muscle testing to help confirm subluxations of the spine, imbalances in the body, and to determine methods of treatment.

Health Supplements and Essential Oils - Dr. Christensen utilizes and has available for his patients a variety of health supplements and essential oils to assist in treating and healing injury as well as correcting imbalances in the body.
